Known as Silicon Hills, Austin is home to over 35 semiconductor companies and manufacturing facilities. Notable among them is Samsung, which is plunking down $44 billion (could exceed $50 billion) for a new manufacturing plant complex in Taylor, which is a few miles northeast of Austin.
